Rules for the 2011 tournaments

Boys Rules

1, Rules of the United States Golf Association will apply, along with FWJGA and local course rules.

2, All rulings will be made by a golf professional or a tournament official, and rulings will be final.

3, Minimum age is 8 years old and maximum age is 18 at time and during the tournament. A contestant cannot be in college or be playing on a collegiate golf team.

4, Each contestant must be able to carry his own bag of clubs, or be able to pull a golf cart, know how to keep score, and have a general knowledge of the rules. Not all courses have pull cart rentals.

5, Parents, relatives and/or friends are not allowed to assist any contestant during play. This includes, but not limited to, giving advice or walking alongside the contestant during competition. Spectators must stay at a reasonable distance from competitors and let them settle any disputes that might arise. A player cannot have a caddie or use a range finder. Failure to heed these rules could cause the contestant to be disqualified or penalized. Parents, relatives, friends are allowed to carry water, ice, etc., to share with the participants.

6, Each contestant is responsible for reporting to the starter 20 minutes before his tee time, and knowing location of courses. Maps to courses are on the www.fwjga.net website.

7, Players 8-13 years old will play each day at Sycamore Creek Golf Course. The first round  of stroke play will determine 8-person flights. The second day begins single-elimination match play. There is no consolation bracket. Boys 12-13 will play the White tees while the others will play forward tees to shorten each hole.

8, The course scheduled as been altered since it was first posted: Boys 14-18 will play the first day at either Rockwood or Z Boaz golf courses. Submitted scores will determine which course, with the higher scores going to Z Boaz. Golfers from Rockwood will be divided after the first day into Division I and Division II. Division I players will play Ridglea C.C. (North course) the second day and Division II will play River Crest C.C. After the second round, Division I will be split into the Championship and First Flights and Division II will be split into the Second and Third Flights. Boys from Z Boaz will be split into flights the second day and begin single-elimination match play. Depending on how many flights, they will play at either Woodhaven C.C. or Glen Garden G&CC. Championship Flight will play Mira Vista C.C. the third day and the First and Scond flights at Shady Oaks. The Third flights will play at Diamond Oaks. The Fourth through the highest flight will play at Pecan Valley. On the final day, the players who make the final cut in the Championship, First, Second and Third flights will play Colonial C.C. and those who make the final cut in the Fourth Flight upward will play at Diamond Oaks C.C.

9, There are no greens fees or entry fees. Players are responsible for their own food and drinks and must dress appropriately. Most courses require collared shirts and bar cut-offs.

10, Entry is limited to Tarrant County residents and surrounding towns. Check the Eligibility list at www.fwjga.net for qualifying towns.

Girls Rules

1, Rules of the United States Golf Association with apply, along with FWJGA and local course rules.

2, All rulings will be made by a golf professional or a tournament officials, and all rulings will be final.

3, Minimum age is 8 years old and maximum age at tournament time is 18. A contestant cannot be in college or playing on a collegiate golf team.

4, Each contestant must be able to carry her own bag of clubs, or be able to pull a golf cart, know how to keep score, and have a general knowledge of the rules. Not all courses rent pull carts. Range finders are not allowed.

5, Contestants are not restricted to Tarrant County or Texas. Girls can register for 9- or 18-hole divisions. Girls 8-10 must register for the 9-hole division. Flights will be based on first-round scores.

6, Each contestant is responsible for reporting to the starter 20 minutes before tee time, and know the location of the courses.

7, Parents, relatives and/or friends are not allowed to assist any contestant during play. This includes, but not limited to, giving advice or walking alongside the contestant during competition. A player cannot have a caddie. Spectators must stay at a reasonable distance from competitors and let them settle any disputes that might arise. Spectators may share water, ice, etc. to the participants. Failure to heed these rules could cause the contestant to be disqualified or penalized.

9, All girls will qualify the first day at Rockwood G.C. The top division and other flights will be determined after the first round. All scores will carry over. Even though a girl might have registered for the 18-hole division, it will be the discretion of the FWJGA Staff to move a girl(s) or a flight(s)  to the 9-hole division after the first or second round. The younger girls in the 9-hole division will play forward tees and the 9-hole division girls will have a 10-shot limit per hole. The Championship Flight will play from the White tees and will have no stroke limit. Other flights will play the red tees and will have a 10-shot limit per hole. On the second day, the girls will the lower scores will play at Ridglea C.C. (North course) and the others will play at Glen Garden G&C.C. On the last day, the girls from Ridglea will play at Woodhaven C.C. and the others at Diamond Oaks C.C. The awards will be at Diamond Oaks C.C. after the Championship Flight has finished at Woodhaven.
