FWJGA Tournament Rules

Boys

1, Rules of the United States Golf Association will apply, along with FWJGA and local course rules.
2, All rulings will be made by a golf professional or a tournament official, and rulings will be final.
3, Minimum age is 7 years old and maximum age is 18 at time and during the tournament. A contestant can not be in college or be playing on a collegiate golf team.
4, Each contestant must be able to carry his own bag of clubs, or be able to pull a golf cart, know how to keep score, and have a general knowledge of the rules. There is a maximum limit of 14 clubs. 5, Parents, relatives and/or friends are not allowed to assist any contestant during play. This includes, but not limited to, giving advice or walking alongside the contestant during competition. Spectators must stay at a reasonable distance from competitors and let them settle any disputes that might arise. A player cannot have a caddie. Failure to heed these rules could cause the contestant to be penalized. Spectators can provide water, food, towels, etc. to participants.
6, Each contestant is responsible for reporting to the starter 20 minutes before his tee time, and knowing location of courses.
7, There are no greens fees or entry fees. Players are responsible for their own food and drinks and must dress appropriately. Most courses require collared shirts and ban cut-offs.
8, Entry is limited to Tarrant County residents and surrounding towns. Check the Eligibility list of qualifying towns.
9, Range finders or similar devices are not allowed.
10, FWJGA officials reserve the right to change the format and/or rules during the course of the tournament to either facilitate play or comply with the wishes of a participating course.

Tournament Format

13-younger players will play each day at Sycamore Creek Golf Course. The first day of stroke play will determine 8-person flights in the 12-13-year-old division and the 7-11 division. The second day begins single-elimination match play in each flight. There is no consolation bracket. Boys 12-13 will play from the White tees. Others will play from shortened tees.

14-older boys will play the first day at either Meadowbrook or Z Boaz golf courses. Submitted scores will determine which course. This year, the boys who turned in 82 and lower will go to Meadowbrook. The 83 and over boys will go to Z Boaz. Boys from Meadowbrook will be divided into Division I and Division II after the first round and continue playing stroke play each day. On the second day, Division I golfers will play River Crest and Division II golfers will play the Ridglea C.C.'s North Course. After the second day, Division I will be divided into Championship, First, Second and Third flights and will play the third round at Shady Oaks C.C. The Division II boys will be divided into flights after the second round and will play Mira Vista C.C. the third day. After the third day, flights from both Shady Oaks and Mira Vista will be pared for the final round at Colonial C.C.. Boys at Z Boaz will be divided into 16-person flights based on their first round scores and they will begin single-elimination match play on the second day at either Diamond Oaks C.C. or Glen Garden G&CC, depending on their score. The winners from the second day will play the third day at Woodhaven and the four survivors in each flight will play stroke play on the final day at Pecan Valley Hills.

Girls

5, Contestants are not restricted to Tarrant County or Texas. Girls of any age can register for 9- or 18-hole divisions. Flights will be bases on first-round scores.

Tournament Format

The girls 18- and 9-hole divisions will be divided into flights after the first round of stroke play. All flights will play stroke play throughout the tournament, though some flights might be limited to 10 shots a hole. The Championship, First and possibly Second flights will not have the 10-shot rule.

Results and pairings are scheduled to appear on this site each evening after play. Also, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram publishes results and pairings.

The city's and country club courses that have been hosts to the FWJGA tournaments include: Rockwood, Z Boaz, Sycamore Creek, Meadowbrook, Pecan Valley, Colonial, Shady Oaks, River Crest, Glen Garden, Diamond Oaks, Ridglea, Mira Vista, Woodhaven and Southern Oaks. Without their generous support, this unique tournament would not be possible.
